My Grandfather who was 83 at the time!
July 30, 1979
Previous to this year's competition, if my memory serves me,
the largest bass ever entered in this club's competition was Bob
##iser's 57 lb boat caught fish. What the chances of an 83 year old
member who fishes off of a dock would be to better 57 lbs would have
been astronomical. That however, is exactly what has happened. It seems
that the ink praising for Russ for his earlier catch of 48lb. bass had
hardly dried when he proceeded to catch a 58 lb. fish. Yes that's right
There isn't much else that can be said in commending
Russ Troy's accomplishment except that experience, patience, and skill
must be mixed well to not only hook but land a fish anywhere near that
size. Russ wants to win the Jerry Sylvester award badly and has
certainly staked his claim to it. Joe Goodness who has won that award
for the past two years for having the largest shore caught bass clear
has his work set out for him.
CONGRATULATIONS!! again must go out to Russ Troy.
one of our members broke the magic fifty pound mark recently. Billy
Allen who is one of the fine boat fishermen in the club did it with a
fish that weighed in at a even
50lbs. WELL DONE Billy.......
